Heat is the local variable

Most peptide storage guidance is written for temperate northern hemisphere conditions. An Australian summer, particularly in the north and west, puts a delivery van interior well above anything those guidelines assume. Lyophilised powder tolerates that far better than solution does, which is the single most useful fact for planning around it.

Three States, Three Rules

Sealed and Lyophilised

Freeze for long-term storage, shielded from light and humidity. Short ambient excursions in transit are generally tolerated; repeated freeze-thaw cycles are not helpful.

Reconstituted

Refrigerate at two to eight degrees Celsius, away from light, and treat as short-lived. This is the state where ambient heat does real damage quickly.

In Transport

Moving reconstituted material between sites is where most protocols come unstuck. A passive gel pack drifts within hours; an actively cooled case holds a set point.

On arrival

Move sealed vials into cold storage promptly rather than leaving the consignment on a bench. Record the batch number against your own inventory at the same time, so that when you later pull the certificate of analysis you can tie it to the specific vial used in a given experiment. That single habit resolves most provenance questions before they arise.
